Joey Negro Interview (Part One)

Dave Lee aka Joey Negro has cut a controversial figure over the years. Derided by some as having too much of a commercial sensibility (Jakatta) and never being quite underground enough (Sunburst Band), the reality is far more complicated, yet inversely far simpler than that. The reality is that Dave Lee does, and has done it all, period.

From his position as a voracious collector and authority on disco and beyond, Dave has built a career based on painstaking attention to production detail (he’s probably put more than one session musician’s kid through school!) and a will to share as much of his music with the public as possible (via his occasionally awe-inspiring compilations on Z) whilst making the odd buck here and there (cough splutter).

The man’s one of a kind… Check it out.
