Tricky Interview

From his early days riding with the hugely influential Bristolian Wild Bunch (the foundation of Massive Attack) to featuring in The Fifth Element movie, no one can accuse Tricky (aka Adrian Thaws) of being a couch potato. This my interview with him for Creative Britain, a culture programme curated by AllSaints Basement Sessions and GQ. The only imposed restriction on my interview was I wasn’t allowed to mention the genre ‘trip hop’!

I remember first getting my hands on the 12″ ‘Aftermath’ (his first solo release) and being draw in by it’s dusty RZA-esque (not that RZA was known at this point) raspy smokiness. I used to THRASH that record relentlessly… It felt like the zeitgeist. Apparently it was mastered straight off tape cassette, which is beyond old school! We talk all about that here.
