Caravan ‘Indian Summer’ Mix

Woah, heatwave! Yup that’s right, for all you readers who aren’t UK-based and look upon our ‘summers’ with wry amusement, you can stick it- because we’ve got a heatwave! Right here in blighty! Inevitably by the time you actually read this it’ll all be over and I’ll be tipping my flat upside down looking for a brolly (my wife loses umbrellas to entertain herself) and donning the thermals. But for now, on this balmy Friday night, it’s a thing of cosmic wonder.

So it was that I found myself throwing open the living room windows this evening and digging through my crates in a particularly warm, heady and (dare I say it) soulful fashion. I don’t really play in a very straight ahead, single genre steezo these days, so it’s quite nice to pull out some Roy Ayers (even if it is the Pepe Bradock remix) and a spot of Gary Bartz. Anyway, I think it came out sounding very ‘humid’ (if you know what I mean), so get out the sun lamp and pretend you’re at Cala Jondal, or even better, Caravan in Exmouth Market, where I play lovely records every Saturday night throughout the summer. Come and say aloha if you’re in London…
