Benis Cletin ‘Jungle Magic’

Sofrito is probably one of the most distinctive production house/label/party promotion outfits in the UK; the fact they’ve now hooked up with the venerable Strut records for their stunning Tropical Discotheque release is testament to this. Their knack for finding, reediting and mastering the most wonderfully obscure Afro Caribbean and latin bombs has secured them (Frankie Francis and Hugo Mendez) a very special place at the heart of the underground. I actually produced a remix for one of their early releases as Atlantic Conveyor, and it’s one of my favourite ever co-productions.

My splendid friend Frankie Francis sent me this wonderful tune the other day; needless to say it was always destined for bloggery. Psychedelic, discoid and so plain out there it’s sure to find favour with everyone from Balearic disco bods to world music heads… This is the sound of a sweatily unforgettable basement moment.
