Red Rack’em Basement Sessions Interview

vimeo Direkt

It was only a matter of time before I dragged longtime Heads Down compadre and (rapidly) rising star Red Rack em down to the shady confines of the AllSaints Basement Sessions . Red Rack’em (real name Daniel Berman) has been tearing it up all over the globe of late; in the last week alone he’s played Australia, Japan, Germany and Poland. God knows the state of his jet lag.

As with the best interviews this is less an interview and more of a discussion; we discuss Danny’s early days in isolated coastal Scotland, his hard-out rave days and his evolution into the 100-fathoms-deep purveyor of bass-soaked wonky techno you see before you today.

The generally unlovely world of dance music isn’t exactly known for it’s honesty, intelligence or integrity, yet Mr Berman exhibits all three regularly, sometimes to his detriment in shallower circles.

As you can see, I have a lot of time for and belief in the man; I think it’s hard not to be inspired by his enthusiasm and consequently feel that perhaps we might be witnessing the ascent of a future underground hero.
