Robert Owens Interview (Part One)

So, here it is, my first Heads Down post since December. My excuse is I’ve been out in New Zealand getting married, and if that’s not a good enough alibi then you’re a heartless, hard to please bunch of so-and-sos (but I love that about you).

Here I have part one of my interviews with the voice of House music, Mr Robert Owens. The guy is disarmingly humble and uncynical; I’ll go as far as saying that he might just be the living embodiment of House itself- emphatically warm, life-affirming and inspirational.

Here we talk Chicago: specifically Larry Heard, The Music Box, Ron Hardy and his current LP ‘Art’. This guy was there, he lived the things we only dream about. Check it out (there’s more to come).

Mr Owens is on point as ever. can’t wait for part two….. inspirational stuff – just like every piece of music the man touches… and it’s nice to hear about those early tracks going down quick and raw in the middle of the night! – they certainly distilled some timeless emotion on those early Fingers inc. bombs – 25 years later and they are still killing it in clubs all over the planet – some legacy.
